Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and dark forces growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will split off from the central cast to begin their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used the foes for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could assist the team enter places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
